Rated as the number one independent commercial radio station in the Western Cape, Heart FM has grown considerably since the rebranding from Heart 104.9 FM in 2006. We initially worked on the website in 2013, optimizing their current website, SEO and updating website content.
This year we were tasked to create a fresh new look for listeners to engage with the station through an interactive, functional platform, showcasing Heart FMs core values which include collaboration and commitment to responsibility and excellence.
With a listenership of 745 000 listeners, it was important to understand how the website-related and was integrated into Heart FMs strategy. This was the foundation for the four phases before the product was achieved. The four phases were: 1 – Ideation with the management team and developers. 2 – Prototyping, user-feedback and wireframing. 3 – Development and feedback cycle. 4 – launching the site. These four phases included re-evaluating all the content and designs on the previous website, only keeping content that aligned to the new strategy.
“We touch lives through music and entertain to create memories.” is a key phrase used in their values. The new website is another tool where this value is materialized. Features like the “GET INVOLVED” and “LATEST NEWS” sections and show allow this to take place. The website is a reflection of on-air content which further encourages engagement. Advertisers are also able to engage with listeners throughout the site.
A stand out feature on the improved website is the new back-end functionality. Each team can autonomously control the part of the website they work on allowing fresh new content to be updated throughout the site regularly.
The versatility of the new site was successfully achieved and implemented.
